Landstown High School gets approval as a STEM academy

On 26th April, the State Board of Education unanimously approved our application to become the Commonwealth’s eleventh Governor’s STEM Academy!

In addition to being one of only eleven STEM academies in the state, Landstown enjoys the further distinction of being only the second comprehensive high school in Virginia to house such a specialized program, joining L.C. Bird in Chesterfield County outside Richmond.

Congratuations to the Technology Team who crafted such an impressive proposal.

Use the link below to find the latest scholarship postings. Please review and apply for any and all scholarships that you meet the qualifications for. If you have any questions, please stop by to see Mrs. Williams in Guidance. You will find a hard copy of the scholarship list in the Guidance Office as well as scholarship applications. If you are unable to print or complete a scholarship that is online, please see Mrs. Williams.

Please don’t forget to bring in your acceptance letters, scholarship award letters, financial aid award letters, and military contracts. We use all of this information to recognize your accomplishments and to assist you with the verification of award amounts.

Prom 2012

Prom will be held at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hilton on June 2nd from 7 to 11pm.  Prom tickets will continue to be on sale until May 23rd.  From April 30th to May 11th $85, May 14th to 18th $90, and May 21st to 23rd $95.  Get them early to save!!

Senior Day

Senior Day will be held June 8th.  A day for the students to prepare for graduation, receive awards, and celebrate with their friends.   The Class of 2012 has accomplished many great things with many more on the way and we are preparing to celebrate them in a big way! As we prepare for this day we are looking for tax deductible donations from you or your company to help with food, events, and prizes.  We are also looking for parent/guardian volunteers to help with set up, serving food, and clean up!  Please contact Mrs. Downing (podownin@vbschools.com) or Kelli Bradshaw (kjbradsh@vbschools.com) if you can volunteer in any way!

Graduation 2012

Graduation will be on Friday, June 15, 8pm. Location: Virginia Beach Convention Center

All Night Grad Tickets can be obtained from the clinic.

School Sports Conditioning, Tryouts, and Practice
Winter Sports Tryouts begin Monday, November 7. Students must have a current physical on file in the school in order to participate.
